Compare/Contrast Essay:

Below are the guidelines for the Compare/Contrast essay.

You should compare and contrast at least 2 different sources.  This will earn the basic level of achievement score wise.  Ultimately, I would prefer 4 sources as this will move you further along in your final project.  I expect this to be well structured essay:

Introduction that defines the issue and introduces the articles that will be reviewed as well as providing a position statement that reflects your field of study.

Body that summarizes the basic content of the articles, compares the information presented, contrasts the issues presented with the limitations that would need to be overcome.

Conclusion that explains the direction the articles move you towards in developing a recommendation of a solution to the issue you are addressing.

Within your comparison, you need to complete the following:

1.  Develop a working argument (position) reflected in the sources that apply to your field of study.

2.  Determine the comparison between the articles that assist you in developing the problem in which you will work to solve in your final proposal.

3.  Explain the limitations (issues that may need to be overcome) that the article address in regards to the issue you wish to solve.

4.  In closing reflect on the possible solution these articles move you toward.

The Compare/Contrast Essay is worth 200 points.
